1to1 Reason: Digital Emigration

Why would technology be so important that we need to invest in something as expensive as a 1-to-1 learning with laptop initiative. In general, there are four main reasons to pursue 1-to-1 learning with technology initiatives: Economy, Equity, Engagement, and Digital Emigration.

How are you moving from “broadcast” teaching to “interactive” teaching?

    We are moving from "information provider" to "facilitator" in the classroom.

    We must engage students with real-world applications and building products for an authentic audience. Even finding engaging websites as educational tools can work.

    We must move away from information dumps with a test for understanding.

    Lessons are designed to involve students - students take center stage.

    From just giving the information and disseminating it at ones own ability and will, we produce and provide the information and allow the students, with guidence, to apply it, explore it, and create relative real life projects.

    We are accessing other teachers, professional development, and trial and error method (with great fear!). However, there is still the frustration level of how, what, when, and where in the classroom to integrate the laptop lesson.
